Tacstone provides guest lecture on RPA to 40 students at University of Amsterdam

Tacstone regularly provides guest lectures on RPA and AI at colleges and universities. Last week Simone Ploemacher and Connor van Heertum gave a guest lecture on the rise of RPA. This guest lecture was set up in cooperation with the Association of Information Sciences Amsterdam. About 40 students from the studies of Computer Science, Information Science and Artificial Intelligence had registered.

For Tacstonians, giving a guest lecture is especially fun to do and also a good way to get to know upcoming graduate students and possible future colleagues. And, not unimportantly, it still proves necessary to give these guest lectures. Necessary? Yes, because despite the strong emergence of RPA, we see that ICT education is still structurally lagging behind in incorporating this new technology into the curriculum.

Anno 2021, then, we may (or: should?) still like to explain exactly what RPA is, what software robots can (and cannot) do, and what is involved in developing and applying RPA. So viewed this way, we are still “evangelizing” RPA.

Live building of a real working software robot

During the session at the UvA, Simone and Connor shared the ins and outs of RPA and showed a large number of practical examples. And of course, a robot script was developed “live” with the UiPath platform. It was nice to experience so much enthusiasm and interest from an ambitious group of computer science students.

Would you also like to receive a guest lecture on RPA? Or interested in an internship?
