It’s been a few months since the release of UiPath LTS 2023.10. No doubt you will have seen something about it passing by. Either in online blogs, articles, the UiPath Insider Program, mailings or (online) events such as the UiPath Forward VI event in Las Vegas. Due to the tsunami of communication, we notice that our customers can no longer see the wood for the trees. Therefore, a brief summary of the most important and relevant updates in this UiPath LTS 2023.10 release. After all, what does this release mean for you as an UiPath customer?

The UiPath 2023.10 LTS release: full focus on AI

That AI may be the most commonly used word in 2023 in the tech industry is nothing new. This is also true for UiPath. Whereas UiPath positioned itself as an “RPA software vendor” as recently as 2018, today they speak of an AI-Powered Business Automation Platform. Not surprisingly, the tagline of this 2023.10 release reads as follows: “UiPath Business Automation Platform allows you to realize true value from AI today, not years from now.”

So in this release, full focus on AI. Both Generative AI (known from ChatGPT, among others), but also Specialized AI. We take you step by step through the most important new features:

1. Enhanced Test functionalities with AI integration in UiPath Test Suite
2. UiPath Autopilot for increasing productivity RPA Developers
3. Gene AI integration into Document Processing for data labeling and more
4. The UiPath AI Trust Layer: keeps control over access and data

AI functionalities in the UiPath Test Suite

Enhance automated testing for your applications with UiPath Test Suite: the robust, AI-based testing solution powered by the UiPath Business Automation Platform. UiPath Test suite enables enterprise-wide, production-ready, AI-based test automation capabilities to deliver automations and applications quickly and continuously at scale.

• Overwriting of test results for easy correction of results
• Test set cloning for quickly scaling your test sets
• Greater control and flexibility over user roles with enhanced role management
• Activity coverage can now be turned on and off from testmanger
• Improved search functionality for finding and managing test objects

The release “Autopilot for Test Suite” is scheduled for 2024. The goal is to make your tests as good as your best tester. To do this, Test Suite will be equipped with Specialized AI and Generative AI. This allows you to leverage supported experiences to accelerate every aspect of continuous testing such as:

• Test design: generate step-by-step test cases from your software requirements
• Test automation: generate coded test automations based on test steps and code comments
• Test results: generate real-time, actionable insights without pre-built reports

UiPath Autopilot

Harness the power of natural language, Generative AI and Specialized AI to improve your productivity. UiPath Autopilot offers a comprehensive set of new capabilities for your center of excellence (CoE) and beyond.

For RPA Developers:

• Build faster and more robust automations and expressions with natural language using Autopilot for Studio
• Generate endless test cases for your automations with Autopilot for Test Suite
• Digitize paper forms into automated apps in minutes with Autopilot for Apps

For RPA Business Analysts:

• Get more actionable data from your automation capabilities with Autopilot for Process Mining and Autopilot for Communications Mining

For all:

There is even a company-wide Autopilot. With Autopilot for Assistant, you can find the CoE’s existing automations or even, on-the-fly, generate new ones via AI.

AI Document processing

Autopilot is not the only place where UiPath has put Generative AI to work. Generative AI is now also coupled with Specialized AI within UiPath Document Understanding and UiPath Communications Mining. This is to take the UiPath solution for Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) to the next level. Those features, combined with active learning, allow customers to easily accelerate model training time up to 80% by, for example, automatically suggesting labels so that they only need to be validated.

The UiPath AI Trust Layer: keeps control over access and data

With all these new Generative AI features, you may be wondering how you keep control of access and your data. Good news, UiPath has an answer to that too. The UiPath AI Trust Layer.

As a leading AI-powered automation platform, UiPath is focused on delivering enterprise-grade solutions with the secure and responsible use of AI. With that in mind, UiPath now comes with the AI Trust Layer, a management framework designed to ensure data security and responsible use of large language models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, across the UiPath Platform.

Built on the pillars of trust, transparency and control, the AI Trust Layer will ensure that each organization has the means to set their own policies regarding data security, access control, and the ability to track and understand what interactions are taking place with external LLMs. Improving AI and gen-AI integration has clearly been the focus of this update, but that doesn’t mean UiPath has been idle in the other areas of their automation platform.

UiPath Studio (for developers)

Increase your productivity and the improve the performance of your automations with coded automations with the built-in IDE in Studio! The interface includes a dedicated code editor, file tabs and breadcrumbs for easy navigation. This layout allows you to manage files, explore project structures, edit code, version manage projects, run and publish automations.

In addition, the data manager has been further enhanced with new ways to add Integration Service activities to projects, improved runtime performance for large excel files, and more details about available resources within the project.
